The James A. Musick facility (aka “The Farm”) is primarily a low-risk, minimum security jail located in a one hundred acre facility near Irvine, Ca in Orange County. It houses both male and female inmates with non-violent crimes such as driving under the influence, minor drug possession, burglary, failure to pay child support, and prostitution. Offenders deemed violent are not eligible to stay at this location.
The facility opened in 1963 and is named after former NFL running back James “Jim” Musick, who began working in the off-season as a deputy for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. He was the sheriff of Orange County from 1945 to 1975.

It’s important to note that after being arrested in Orange County, inmates are transferred to one of the Orange County Main Jails such as the Orange County Central Men’s Jail, Theo Lacy Jail, James A. Musick Jail, or in the case of females, the Orange County Central Women’s Jail.
