The Central Men’s Jail is comprised of four separate bureaus that are inter-connected by a series of tunnels and corridors. The Orange County Jail Complex offers it’s inmates a variety of services such as: television access, outdoor recreation, commissary, access to local newspapers, medical and dental care, religious services of various denominations, vocational and educational programs, substance abuse treatment, and the opportunity to work in the Jail to earn credits to reduce the sentence of a convicted inmate.

The Central Men’s Jail was opened in November of 1968, making it the third oldest jail in Orange County, next to the Theo Lacy and James Musick facilities. At least 16 inmates have escaped in its 47-year history, most climbing down the outer walls from the rooftop.
